Researchers examined data from the UK Biobank involving 247,867 adults, tracking their health outcomes over a decade. The goal was to investigate the relationship between sleep duration and type 2 diabetes, and whether a healthy diet could mitigate the effects of short sleep on diabetes risk.

Participants were categorized into three sleep duration groups: normal (seven to eight hours), mild (six hours), moderate (five hours), and extreme (three to four hours).
