Breaking:Man United team news

Christian Eriksen and Amad Diallo come into the starting XI. Casemiro is dropped to the bench after his horro show against Liverpool and Ugarte is also on the sidelines.

A view from the ground

Mail Sport's very own Chris Wheeler and Nathan Salt are at the game today and they'll be providing their unique insights throughout the afternoon.

A debut for Ugarte?

The combative midfielder completed his long-awaited move to United on deadline but it proved to be too late to feature against Liverpool. As it turned out, United might have done with him in the side.

He'll be expecting to feature today, whether it'll be from the start will be confirmed in shortly. But Ten Hag has been discussing the former PSG man in the week and revealed that he's been watching him for some time. Not in a creepy way.

Erik ten Hag, Man United boss:

I played him already when I was the boss of Ajax against Sporting Lisbon. He's been on my radar for quite a long time. He's a late transfer coming in but he's playing a very important position.
You have to connect defending with attacking. Communication is very important to guide and lead the team. We have to help and guide him.

Already a must win!

Scary to think that after only three games Erik ten Hag can ill-afford to lose this game against Southampton at St Mary's. The humbling defeat to Liverpool resulted in a very noisy international break and I'm sure the Dutchman would not have wanted his team to be first up against the hiatus.

But here we are. United face Southampton, who have had lots of possession so far this season with very little end product. They could be the perfect tonic for United or their worst nightmare.

Whichever way it goes, we'll be bringing you all the updates from the clash on the south coast. The news ahead of the 12:30pm kick-off and then all the action once we get underway! Stay tuned.
