The Penguin is the highly anticipated series spin-off of 2022's The Batman. The show follows the ascent to power of Oz Cobb (Colin Farrell), a low-level figure in Gotham's criminal underworld who'll stop at nothing to take control of the city and claim what's his. It premieres this Thursday.

Regarding the overall story timeline, the events of The Penguin take place a week after the explosive climax of Matt Reeves' brooding blockbuster. The HBO series will bridge the gap between Reeves' first outing and the planned sequel.

Viewers in the US can check out the first episode of The Penguin beginning Thursday, Sept. 19, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and simulcast on Max. Each following episode will air weekly on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
