Tottenham suffer injury blow as Dominic Solanke OUT of Everton clash

Ange Postecoglou has revealed that £65million summer signing Dominic Solanke will miss Tottenham's clash against Everton on Saturday due to an injury.

The 26-year-old, who joined the club last week from Bournemouth, suffered a knock on his ankle during Spurs' 1-1 draw against Premier League newcomers Leicester City on Monday night.

The Tottenham boss confirmed on Friday that he would miss their match against the Toffees and revealed the injury has since 'flared up'.

'Dom picked up a knock in the last game so he got through the game but it flared up the day after, so he'll miss tomorrow,' the Australian manager said.

During his debut, Solanke had appeared to be slightly off pace with the rest of his team-mates, failing to convert several chances for Spurs in the first-half.

It is likely that Richarlison will stand in for Solanke this weekend, with Postecoglou stating the forward was 'readyto go'

Shedding more light on the injury, Postecoglou added: 'It's an ankle injury, he copped it really early on, someone went across his ankle.

'It just depends on his recovery,' he said when pressed on when he is likely to return. 'Obviously, we've got the international break. but it's not serious.'

The manager also stated that Richarlison is 'ready to go' and will likely stand in as Solanke's replacement after the winger made his return from a long-standing calf injury that has kept him out since May.

Rodrigo Bentancur will also be unavailable for selection after he suffered a nasty head injury during Monday's game.

'We respect concussion protocols and [with] any head injury we'll always be a little more conservative,' Postecoglou said on Bentancur.

'The good news is he's bounced back really well, done all the concussion tests, but we'll take our time with Rodrigo before putting him back out there.'

Postecoglou also added that Yves Bissouma could be set to return to the matchday squad after the midfielder was suspended for their opening Premier League fixture - after a video was released online of the Mali international inhaling laughing gas.

His manager had spoken candidly on the matter to the media, stating that the midfielder had 'made a really poor decision' but later added that he believed in 'giving people an opportunity to learn from their mistakes.'

On Friday, he stated that Bissouma would be available for selection to play against Everton, adding that the pair had begun repairing their relationship.

'Biss is available but we've got some options there and the whole idea of bulking up the squad in pre-season was for these kinds of scenarios,' Postecoglou added.
