Ethan Horvath had a moment to forget in his side's 5-0 loss to Burnley on Saturday as he committed a horrific own goal.
The Cardiff City goalie was standing inside the six-yard box early in the first half when teammate Dimitrios Goutas rolled a pass back to him.
But the American lost his focus, as he failed to successfully trap the ball with the bottom of his foot and it went into the net behind him despite his sliding attempt to keep it out.
Horvath looked mortified after the blunder as Goutas came over to console him.
Former USA goalie Tony Meola said on CBS Sports that 'everything was wrong in the moment' for Horvath and criticized him for not trying to trap the ball with the inside of his foot.

The afternoon would get much worse for Cardiff after Horvath's ninth-minute error as Luca Koleosho, Josh Brownhill, Zeki Amdouni and Johann Berg Gudmundsson added to the scoring.
He'll want to impress the Argentine, but he's largely found himself buried behind No. 1 Matt Turner in recent years on the USA depth chart.
Turner played 17 times for Nottingham Forest last season after signing from Arsenal in the summer but struggled at times and now looks far from the starting lineup.
Horvath, meanwhile, has bounced around the Championship since joining Forest in 2021.
He played for Luton Town on loan the following season, starting 44 games, and then moved to Cardiff last year before making his move permanent last winter.
