Wolves complete double signing in final minutes of deadline day

Wolves pulled off a double signing just before Friday's transfer deadline to hand Gary O'Neil a major boost after a difficult start to the season.

Wolves have lost their opening two league games of the campaign against Arsenal and Chelsea, conceding eight goals in the process, and O'Neil was keen to add to his squad before the transfer window slammed shut.

He got his wish as Wolves got deals over the line for Brazilian midfielder Andre from Fluminense and Ajax's Carlos Forbs just in time.

Andre arrives on a permanent deal for around £20m, while Portuguese winger Forbs has signed on a season-long loan.

Andre was linked with a move to Liverpool last year, but ended up remaining in his homeland of Brazil.

Earlier on deadline day, Wolves completed the £10m signing of Sam Johnstone from Crystal Palace.

The England goalkeeper lost his No1 spot to Dean Henderson at Palace, but will now provide competition for Jose Sa at Molineux.

There was also a late outgoing for Wolves on deadline day as Chiquinho joined LaLiga side Real Mallorca on loan for the rest of the season.

The 24-year-old has only made 11 appearances for Wolves in the last two years, and has now moved to Spain to gain more first team experience.
