Wolves near £10m agreement for Crystal Palace goalkeeper Sam Johnstone

Wolves are close to agreeing a £10million deal for Crystal Palace goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, and are set to offer him a four-year deal.

The England international has fallen down the pecking order at Selhurst Park since the arrival of Oliver Glasner, with Dean Henderson taking his No 1 jersey and spot in the side.

Henderson wore No 30 last season following his £15m move from Nottingham Forest but ended the campaign as the first-choice stopper at Selhurst Park.

After being sidelined with a hamstring injury, Henderson started 18 Premier League matches between December and May, while Johnstone featured in just four top-flight games following the turn of the year.

Johnstone had emerged on Wolves' radar heading towards the transfer deadline, with Arsenal's Aaron Ramsdale also previously on their shortlist.

The 31-year-old is yet to make an appearance this term and is now nearing an exit with the Midlands side.

Wolves have been keen to bring in a new stopper toward the end of the transfer window. Jose Sa is the current No 1 at Molineux, but the Portuguese keeper conceded six at the weekend against Chelsea.

Crystal Palace meanwhile are hoping to wrap up deals for Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix and Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah while striker Odsonne Edouard has emerged as a potential target for Ipswich if they decide to walk away from a loan for Chelsea's Armando Broja.

Talks have accelerated over a deal for Nketiah with Palace offering around £25m plus £5m in add ons and the striker is keen on the move.

Mail Sport reported earlier this month that Palace were waiting in the wings after talks between Arsenal and Marseille then with Nottingham Forest had broken down.
