Wrexham announce Meta Quest as new sponsor

As football continues to evolve beyond limits fans never thought possible, so do the companies that sponsor them - such as Meta Quest.

The virtual reality headset giants have become the latest tech giants to get involved in the sport after signing a new back-of-shirt partnership deal with Wrexham.

Murmurs of a potential deal between the two began after Wrexham players were spotted arriving for their midweek clash with Huddersfield with Meta Quest 3 headsets.

Speaking on the new deal, co-owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds said: 'We're so excited to welcome Meta Quest as our back-of-shirt sponsor.

'Meta Quest allows you to immerse yourself in new worlds and experiences and is all about connection—something that resonates with us at Wrexham AFC.

'Whether it's our journey with this incredible club or the bond we share with our supporters, it's about bringing people together. Plus, now we can finally live out our dreams of being on the pitch without pulling a hamstring.'

Meanwhile, Wrexham CEO Michael Williamson said: 'We are very proud to welcome Meta Quest as the Club's new back-of-shirt partner.

'Their commitment to finding inventive and meaningful ways for people to connect and engage with their favourite content is one that aligns with the values of the Club.

'We always strive to give our community of fans everywhere a team that they not only feel personally connected to but inspired to collectively rally behind.'

The mixed reality company's name and logo will appear on the back of the players kits during the club's home and away games.

The Meta Quest headsets allow users to step into an augmented reality where they can watch movies, play games or immerse yourself in unreal experiences.

Unfortunately for the Welsh side, they could not find victory against Huddersfield but did earn a point after the stalemate at the SToK Cae Ras.
