American Bitcoin announced Tuesday the acquisition of 11,298 new ASIC miners, significantly expanding its computing capacity. The move is expected to add approximately 3.05 exahashes per second (EH/s) to its operations at its Drumheller, Alberta site.
This expansion will increase American Bitcoin's total miner fleet to 89,242, contributing to an owned capacity of roughly 28.1 EH/s. The new machines offer improved energy efficiency, a critical factor in mining profitability due to high electricity costs.

While increased computing power enhances the probability of earning block rewards, profitability ultimately depends on Bitcoin's market price, network difficulty, and energy expenses. The company's stock showed little immediate reaction to the news.
Beyond mining, American Bitcoin maintains a Bitcoin-centric strategy, holding over 6,000 BTC on its balance sheet. This approach, shared by many mining firms, aims to build long-term asset exposure but introduces significant price volatility risks, as evidenced by a recent $59 million net loss driven by mark-to-market adjustments.
