Binance co-founder Changpeng ‘CZ’ Zhao expressed his vision for cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology to become an invisible part of daily infrastructure by 2031, akin to the internet today. Speaking on the Wolf of All Streets podcast, Zhao anticipates that discussions around the technology will diminish as it seamlessly integrates into everyday life.
He stated, “I’m hoping that we don’t talk about crypto as crypto in five years, just like we don’t talk about the internet anymore.” Zhao believes that while new use cases for blockchain, such as data storage, will emerge, the focus will shift from the technology itself to its utility.

Zhao also highlighted the potential for Artificial Intelligence to accelerate blockchain development and adoption. He noted, “The speed of development, the speed of writing code is going to increase quite dramatically, and AI agents are going to use crypto a lot.” He warned that countries neglecting AI and blockchain will face significant disadvantages, identifying these alongside the internet as the three major transformative industries of his lifetime.
Industry projections suggest substantial growth, with digital assets potentially reaching a $28 trillion market by 2030, and stablecoin volumes predicted to hit $1.5 quadrillion by 2035.
