Amazon Web Services has integrated Coinbase's x402 payment protocol into Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, a new service called AgentCore Payments. This gives developers a managed way to build AI agents that can discover services, make micropayments, and complete tasks using USDC.
The integration allows AWS developers to build agents that pay for services autonomously while maintaining budget controls, compliance checks, and transaction visibility. Coinbase said agents do not receive access to private keys.
Settlement happens in about 200 milliseconds on Base with USDC at less than a fraction of a cent per transaction. The system supports time-bound spending limits and compliance controls through Coinbase's CDP Facilitator.
Coinbase said x402 has processed more than 169 million payments across over 590,000 buyers and 100,000 sellers in its first year.
Stripe is also joining AgentCore as a payment connection in preview, with broader fiat payment support in development.
