Circle has released a new suite of tools under the name 'Agent Stack,' designed to allow AI agents to hold wallets, discover services, and make programmable payments using the USDC stablecoin. The offering includes agent-focused wallets, a command-line interface for developers, a marketplace for agentic services, and a nanopayments protocol enabling gas-free USDC transfers as small as $0.000001. The system is built for high-frequency machine-to-machine transactions, with pre-set permissions and spending controls.

The move comes as stablecoin issuers and crypto firms race to build financial infrastructure for autonomous software. MoonPay, BitGo, Visa, Tempo, Coinbase, and Exodus have recently launched similar tools. Circle is the issuer of the second-largest stablecoin by market cap, with roughly $78 billion USDC in circulation. Shares of Circle (CRCL) were up 18% in midday trading.
