Binance has filed a defamation lawsuit against Dow Jones, the publisher of The Wall Street Journal. This action follows a WSJ report alleging that the U.S. Justice Department is investigating whether Iran used Binance to move funds in violation of American sanctions.
The complaint, lodged in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, asserts that the newspaper published "false and defamatory statements" concerning Binance's compliance practices and its handling of transactions linked to Iran. The lawsuit targets an article published on February 23rd, with a subsequent report on Wednesday detailing the DOJ's probe. The Justice Department is reportedly contacting individuals with knowledge of transactions involving cryptocurrencies moved through the platform, citing sources familiar with the matter.
