DoorDash is implementing Stripe's Tempo blockchain to facilitate stablecoin payments for its delivery workers and merchants in over 40 countries. The move aims to streamline global transactions by reducing payment settlement times and minimizing fees associated with foreign currency exchange and intermediaries.

Company co-founder Andy Fang stated that the integration with Tempo, which focuses on payments and stablecoins, will simplify cross-border transactions. He emphasized that faster and more affordable payouts for both merchants and delivery personnel benefit the entire ecosystem. Stablecoin settlements can occur in seconds, a significant improvement over traditional banking methods. DoorDash selected Tempo for its enterprise readiness and payments-centric approach.

Tempo's blockchain, which launched its public mainnet in March, has collaborated with major companies like Visa, Shopify, and OpenAI on early design and payment use cases. Shares of DoorDash (DASH) saw a slight decline following the announcement.
