Morpho has launched Morpho Agents in beta, a machine-readable interface allowing AI agents to directly interact with its lending infrastructure. This new interface provides AI systems with read, simulate, and write access to Morpho across Ethereum and Base. It also includes a Builder Agent to assist developers in creating Morpho integrations.

This initiative signals a significant trend in crypto, shifting infrastructure development towards autonomous agents rather than solely human users. Morpho has already seen over 130,000 AI agents register on-chain identities since January. Previously, the protocol enhanced its stack with LLM-friendly documentation endpoints to aid AI parsing. The new beta advances this by enabling AI agents to simulate and prepare lending transactions, a crucial step for their active participation in DeFi.

The launch aligns with a growing competition to establish the wallet layer for autonomous finance. Competitors like MoonPay and Coinbase have introduced similar agent-focused tools, aiming to provide AI with secure access to wallets, funds, and transaction capabilities across blockchains.
