The New York Stock Exchange is launching a 24/7 tokenized securities platform with Securitize, a blockchain firm backed by BlackRock.

Securitize will serve as NYSE’s first digital transfer agent, issuing shares and ETFs as digital tokens via blockchain technology. The firms will establish standards for compliant issuance and management of tokenized securities by other agents.

Securitize’s broker-dealer unit will integrate with the new Digital Trading Platform, enabling alternative trading of digital tokens. The move follows NYSE’s January filing seeking regulatory approval for blockchain-based securities issuance.
