The number of public companies holding significant Bitcoin positions has more than doubled in a single year. Fidelity Digital Assets reports 49 public companies held at least 1,000 BTC by the end of 2025. Collectively, these firms now control nearly 5% of Bitcoin's total supply.
By mid-2026, the trend accelerated. Trackers report between 170 and 199 public companies now hold approximately 1.265 million BTC, worth roughly $76 billion. This represents about 6% of the total supply.
Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, leads with about 847,000 BTC. Other top holders include Twenty One Capital, Metaplanet, and MARA Holdings.
Fidelity categorizes these corporate holders into three types: Native crypto firms, Strategic treasury-focused companies, and Traditional businesses diversifying cash reserves. Strategic firms hold the majority of corporate Bitcoin reserves.
