May 4, 2025 - World Liberty Financial, the crypto venture co-founded by President Donald Trump and his sons, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Hong Kong-based crypto entrepreneur Justin Sun.

In a complaint posted on X, World Liberty accuses Sun of launching a “public smear campaign” and of violating token transfer restrictions by moving his tokens to Binance.

The suit comes after Sun filed his own lawsuit in April, alleging World Liberty illegally froze tokens he purchased after they became tradeable in September 2025.

World Liberty maintains its token freeze capability was disclosed in the Terms of Sale.

Sun calls the suit a “meritless PR stunt” and vows to fight it in court. Donald Trump Jr. and World Liberty CEO Zach Witkoff echoed support for the legal action.
