Prosecutors allege he exploited smart contract vulnerabilities across two incidents in April 2021. Instead of liquidating assets, the defendant allegedly purchased rare collectibles, including Pokémon cards and Wright Brothers airplane fabric.
US Attorney Jay Clayton emphasized that digital theft carries real-world consequences identical to traditional financial crimes. Law enforcement previously seized $31 million in cryptocurrency linked to the scheme during earlier investigations.
