Anthropic PBC disclosed today it has confidentially filed to go public, with no details on the planned listing. The AI company is expected to hold its public offering this year, likely reaching a market capitalization above $965 billion, the valuation from its most recent funding round.

Anthropic may have closed its first profitable quarter over the weekend, a milestone that could boost investor interest. Last month, the company reported that its annual run-rate has topped $47 billion, more than tripling since February. A key driver is Claude Code, the programming-optimized chatbot, which surpassed $2.5 billion in annualized revenue within a year of launch.

The company plans to release "Mythos-class" LLMs, which have been used to find high-severity vulnerabilities in all major operating systems and browsers. Over 500 customers now spend more than $1 million annually on Anthropic's services, up from a few dozen two years ago.

The IPO will unlock liquidity for institutional backers who have invested over $90 billion since the start of the year. Anthropic has committed to using more than $100 billion in Amazon Web Services over 10 years and agreed to pay SpaceX $1.25 billion per month through 2029 for AI supercomputers.
