Bill Ackman's hedge fund, Pershing Square, is making a significant bet on Microsoft. The billionaire investor announced the new position on Friday, describing the tech giant's current valuation as 'highly compelling.'
Pershing Square USA, Ackman's new closed-end fund that debuted on the NYSE last month, has also made Microsoft a core holding.
This move follows a series of tech investments by Ackman. In February, Pershing Square bought shares in Meta Platforms, betting on its AI potential. Last year, the firm made a new investment in Amazon, and it previously invested in Alphabet in late 2022.
Microsoft shares have fallen more than 15% this year as investors worry its early lead in AI is slipping, with Google and Amazon making strong progress.
