CAE Inc. is laying off approximately 280 employees, representing two percent of its workforce, due to anticipated spending cuts by commercial airlines. Nearly two-thirds of these affected positions are in Quebec, concentrated in the Montreal area, the company's headquarters. This move aligns with a transformation plan introduced by new CEO Matthew Bromberg.

CAE is also reviewing operations at three training centers in Brussels, Stockholm, and Barcelona, with potential sales of these facilities. Early retirement and work-sharing programs are being offered to some employees. The layoffs follow a broader transformation program initiated in November to address slowing demand in air travel and pilot recruitment.
