TOKYO, April 3 - Japan’s largest power generator, JERA, has terminated a 20-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) purchase agreement with U.S. developer Commonwealth LNG, according to a U.S. Department of Energy filing.

The deal, signed last June, committed to 1 million metric tons per annum (mtpa) of LNG from Commonwealth’s Louisiana project.

The termination notice, dated April 1, stated the agreement ended effective March 3, without providing a reason.

Bloomberg first reported the development. JERA and Commonwealth LNG did not respond to requests for comment.
