The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) President Lynn Martin stated the exchange feels a "responsibility" to enter the tokenization space, driven by the growth of blockchain-based finance.

The NYSE has developed its tokenization technology and is collaborating with regulators to integrate it within the existing financial framework. Tokenization transforms real-world assets into blockchain-based tokens, promising faster settlements and round-the-clock trading.

Martin indicated that learnings from past market liquidity and stability challenges are being applied to this new initiative. The exchange plans to launch a blockchain-powered platform later this year, enabling 24/7 trading of tokenized stocks and ETFs, pending regulatory approval, a significant departure from its traditional trading hours.

Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman Michael Selig echoed the sentiment, stating regulators are ready to collaborate with both established and new entities on technological advancements.
