Sources indicate that the decision stems from a desire to avoid missing out on promising deals. There is a recognized overlap between crypto and AI, particularly in areas like agentic payments. Paradigm has been exploring AI's convergence with crypto for several years, with co-founder Matt Huang previously stating that while deeply committed to crypto, the developments in AI are too significant to ignore.

Earlier this month, Paradigm and OpenAI released EVMbench, a benchmark designed to evaluate AI models' ability to detect and fix smart contract vulnerabilities. This move highlights the growing synergy between AI and blockchain technology. In 2025, AI firms attracted over half of all venture capital funding, underscoring the sector's explosive growth.
