International Energy Agency (IEA) chief Fatih Birol has moved to ease concerns over a global oil crisis, stating that the market has "plenty of oil." Despite escalating conflict in the Middle East and retaliatory attacks that have driven up crude prices and fanned inflation fears, Birol emphasized that the disruption is temporary and logistical.

Addressing reporters in Brussels, Birol acknowledged challenges for many countries due to the war but affirmed the global market's ample supply. While "all options are on the table" regarding emergency stocks, he noted no current plans for "collective action." He reiterated, "There is plenty of oil, we have no oil shortage," and described the situation as "a huge surplus in the market."

Though shipping through the critical Strait of Hormuz has significantly decreased, Birol characterized the situation as a "temporary disruption." The IEA, established to manage supply disruptions following the 1973 oil crisis, is monitoring the evolving geopolitical landscape.
