Air France-KLM has submitted a non-binding proposal to acquire a minority stake in TAP Air Portugal ahead of Thursday's privatization deadline.

The Franco-Dutch carrier emphasized its experience with state shareholders and pledged to maintain TAP’s Lisbon hub, aiming to expand connectivity across Portugal, including Porto.

Lisbon’s strategic location positions it as a potential southern European gateway to the Americas and Africa, according to the company.

Air France-KLM highlighted plans for operational synergy, decarbonization, and preservation of TAP’s Portuguese identity.

Competitors Lufthansa and IAG are also expected to bid, though IAG's participation remains uncertain.
