Shoppers at Trader Joe's have just days to file a claim in a $7.4 million class-action settlement stemming from a 2019 lawsuit. The suit alleged that some stores violated the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act by printing receipts that displayed the first six and last four digits of credit or debit card numbers, potentially putting customers at risk for identity theft. The chain denied the allegations but agreed to settle.

Eligible claimants are those who made purchases between March 5, 2019, and July 19, 2019, and received such a receipt. No cases of identity theft have been reported from this issue.

The estimated payout per claimant is about $102, depending on the number of valid claims and deductions for legal fees. The deadline to submit a claim is June 9. A final court approval hearing is set for August, after which checks would be mailed within ten business days.
