The White House hosted a swearing-in ceremony for new Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh Thursday, the first such event at the White House since Alan Greenspan's in 1987. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas officiated.
President Trump, who feuded publicly with the Fed in the past, struck a hands-off tone, telling Warsh: "I want Kevin to be totally independent. Don't look at me, don't look at anybody, just do your own thing."
Warsh, 56, served as a Fed governor from 2006 to 2011, during the global financial crisis. He's considered market-friendly and takes over as the 11th Fed chair, succeeding Jerome Powell, who remains on the board.
Analysts are watching for dovish signals from Warsh, which could favor Bitcoin, Solana, and other digital assets. His first policy meetings will be closely scrutinized by crypto, equity, and bond markets.
