Canadian fintech firm Wealthsimple has integrated its stock trading capabilities with Elon Musk's social media platform X. The new feature, called 'Cashtags,' allows X users in the U.S. and Canada to view stock performance data directly within the X app on their iPhones.
When users engage with a cashtag (a stock symbol preceded by a dollar sign), they will see historical performance charts. Existing Wealthsimple clients can then opt to place trades directly through the app. Wealthsimple emphasizes that X has no access to client data or account information; all trading is conducted on the Wealthsimple platform.
The initiative aims to leverage X's extensive user base for financial news consumption, bringing real-time financial data closer to traders and investors.
