Fitness influencer and trainer Mark Langowski, known on social media as bodybymark, hosted a pushup and plank competition in New York City's Washington Square Park. The event, held in partnership with Oikos yogurt, awarded $500 to the top male and female performers. Langowski emphasized the importance of getting started, noting that attendees showcased impressive feats, like completing 111 consecutive pushups.
Langowski described pushups and planks as a baseline fitness measure. For beginners, he recommends starting against a wall or on knees before progressing. He stressed that consistency, proper rest, and protein intake are crucial. Most importantly, he advised taking the first step: a simple walk around the block, no gym required.
"You don't need an expensive gym membership," Langowski said. "You just have to get out there."
