A recall due to possible salmonella contamination has expanded to include two types of frozen pizzas sold at Walmart. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the expanded recall on May 1, affecting products made with a previously recalled dry milk powder.

Two Great Value brand pizzas-Thin Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch and Stuffed Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch-are now included. Aldi’s Mama Cozzi’s breakfast pizzas were also part of the initial alert.

A Walmart spokesperson stated, “We have issued a sales restriction and removed this product from our impacted stores. We are working with the supplier to investigate.”

The potential contamination stems from dry milk powder also used in Ghirardelli hot cocoa mixes, Pork King Good pork rinds, and Culinary Circle pizzas. The USDA expects additional products to be identified. No illnesses have been confirmed to date.

Salmonella can cause severe illness, especially in children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. The agency urges consumers to discard or return affected products.
