San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch has dismissed speculation that an electrical substation near Levi’s Stadium contributed to recent player injuries.
Lynch said the organization brought in a scientist to investigate, who found no harmful electromagnetic exposure. "It basically was a big nothing burger," Lynch told reporters.
Star tight end George Kittle had previously expressed skepticism about the theory but called for clarity. The investigation confirmed that conditions at the facility were consistent with a typical gym or workplace.
The 49ers finished 12-5 in 2025, though key players like Kittle, Brock Purdy, and Ricky Pearsall missed games due to injuries. For now, the substation theory is laid to rest.
