NEW YORK - Australian striker Sam Kerr has signed with Gotham FC through the 2030 season, returning to the club where she played from 2015 to 2017.
The move marks a major acquisition for the National Women's Soccer League. Kerr is the NWSL's all-time leading regular season goal-scorer.
She joins from Chelsea, where she recorded 116 goals across all competitions and won five Women's Super League titles. Kerr was the 2023 Ballon d'Or runner-up.
"This club was an important part of my journey, and to come back at this moment, with everything Gotham has built, is really special," Kerr said in a statement.
Yael Averbuch West, Gotham's president of soccer operations, called the signing a "landmark moment."
The transfer brings one of the world's top talents to the largest U.S. sports market.
