LONDON - Arsenal have ended their 22-year Premier League title drought. The Gunners were confirmed champions on Tuesday after Manchester City could only manage a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth.

Mikel Arteta's side, leaders for most of the season, are now four points clear with one game to play. The title race effectively ended when Arsenal beat Burnley 1-0 on Monday, leaving City needing a win to keep their hopes alive. But City trailed to a first-half goal from Bournemouth's Eli Junior Kroupi and Erling Haaland's stoppage-time equalizer came too late.

This is Arsenal's first Premier League title since the historic 2003-04 ‘Invincibles’ season under Arsene Wenger and their first major trophy since the 2020 FA Cup in Arteta’s first season. The 44-year-old becomes the youngest Arsenal manager to win the English top flight, ending the 'nearly men' tag after three consecutive second-place finishes.

The celebrations were immediate and intense in North London, with fans gathering at the Emirates Stadium. Even Prime Minister Keir Starmer, an Arsenal fan, posted on X: '22 long years for Arsenal. But finally we're back where we belong.'

Arsenal can still add the Champions League trophy. They face Paris St Germain in the final in Budapest on May 30, bidding to win Europe's elite competition for the first time.
