India fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has been fined by the International Cricket Council (ICC) following an incident in the Twenty20 World Cup final. During New Zealand's chase, Arshdeep threw the ball directly at batsman Daryl Mitchell after the latter played a shot. Mitchell, visibly angered, approached Arshdeep, who did not apologize. India captain Suryakumar Yadav intervened to smooth over the situation.
The ICC fined Arshdeep 15 percent of his match fee for breaching the code of conduct by "throwing a ball (or any other item of cricket equipment) at or near a player in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner." Arshdeep has since apologized to Mitchell and accepted the sanction.
India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs to secure their third T20 World Cup title.
