Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa offered no excuses after Barcelona sealed the La Liga title with a 2-0 win at Camp Nou, saying the club understands the fury of its supporters.

"There isn't much we can say; we understand their frustration, their disappointment," Arbeloa told reporters. "Real Madrid always bounce back, but I understand the anger any fan might feel."

The loss condemned Real to a trophyless season following a turbulent year that saw Xabi Alonso sacked mid-season and tensions rise last week when captain Federico Valverde was hospitalized after a fight with teammate Aurelien Tchouameni.

Arbeloa insisted the squad must finish strongly, saying: "We have a great squad. The club will always look to improve, but we have players any team in Europe would want."
