LILLEHAMMER, Norway, March 24 - U.S. ski star Mikaela Shiffrin edged closer to a record-equalling sixth overall World Cup title after winning the final slalom of the season in Hafjell.

The 31-year-old secured her 110th career World Cup victory and ninth slalom win this season. She now leads German rival Emma Aicher by 85 points, with 100 points up for grabs in Wednesday's giant slalom.

Shiffrin, who already claimed her ninth slalom title, could match Austrian legend Annemarie Moser-Proell's women's record of six overall titles.

Wendy Holdener of Switzerland finished second, 1.32 seconds behind Shiffrin.
