Marco Odermatt claimed victory in the men's World Cup Alpine skiing downhill at Garmisch-Partenkirchen on Saturday. This marks his first downhill win since the Milano Cortina Olympics, where he earned two silvers and a bronze.
Compatriots Alexis Monney and Stefan Rogentin completed a Swiss one-two-three, finishing 0.04 seconds and further behind Odermatt, respectively. Franjo von Allmen, a triple gold medallist at the Olympics, placed sixth.
Odermatt expressed his relaxed state and enjoyment of the conditions, despite the challenging, warm weather on the Kandahar piste. "Skiing was much fun again," he stated.
The win extends Odermatt's lead in the downhill standings to 175 points over Von Allmen. He also holds a substantial 687-point advantage in the overall World Cup standings.
