Arsenal defender Ben White has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after sustaining a significant medial knee ligament injury, the club confirmed Tuesday.

White was forced off in the 28th minute of Sunday's 1-0 win over West Ham United. The 28-year-old has missed several games this season due to various injuries.

"Our medical team are now managing Ben's recovery and rehabilitation programme, with everyone fully focused on supporting the aim of Ben being ready for the start of our pre-season preparations," the club said in a statement.

White will miss Arsenal's two remaining Premier League matches and the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.

The Gunners currently lead Manchester City by five points, though City have a game in hand.

His absence is a significant setback for manager Mikel Arteta, as fellow right back Jurrien Timber is also sidelined with an injury.

It remains uncertain whether White will be fit for the World Cup, which begins June 11.

White returned to international duty in March for the first time since leaving the 2022 World Cup camp, scoring in a 1-1 friendly draw with Uruguay but also facing boos from fans.
