England secured a four-wicket victory in the second T20 international against India at Old Trafford, chasing down 191 with an over to spare.
The match was defined by two contrasting stories. India's 15-year-old debutant Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the leading IPL run-scorer, made history as India's youngest-ever international cricketer. He hit two sixes in a quick 14 before being stumped.
However, England's Jacob Bethell stole the spotlight. The 22-year-old smashed an unbeaten 76 from 46 balls, including five sixes, to anchor the successful chase. His onslaught against spinner Ravi Bishnoi in the 17th over, which yielded 29 runs, was the decisive blow.
India posted 190-7, with Shreyas Iyer (37) and Tilak Varma (24) contributing. Sam Curran was England's best bowler with 3-33. England's innings began disastrously as Arshdeep Singh removed both openers for ducks, but Harry Brook's 39 and Bethell's match-winning knock turned the tide.
The third game of the five-match series is at Trent Bridge on Tuesday.
