Bayern Munich asserted dominance over 10-man Borussia Moenchengladbach, securing a decisive 4-1 victory on Friday. This win extends their lead at the top of the German Bundesliga to 14 points.
Even with injured striker Harry Kane sidelined, Bayern showcased a relentless offensive performance, with four different players finding the back of the net. This dominant display follows their recent 3-2 triumph over second-placed Borussia Dortmund.
Bayern now holds 66 points with nine games remaining in the league. Coach Vincent Kompany expressed satisfaction with the team's intensity and the performance of players who stepped up in Kane's absence. "When Harry is out, we have other guys who can get the goals. Today we scored four," Kompany stated, highlighting the team's depth.
Luis Diaz opened the scoring in the 33rd minute with his 14th goal of the season, followed by Konrad Laimer's strike just before halftime. The match shifted further in Bayern's favor in the 55th minute when Rocco Reitz of Gladbach received a straight red card. Jamal Musiala converted the ensuing penalty, marking his first league goal since returning from injury.
Musiala, aiming for match fitness ahead of the World Cup, expressed his satisfaction with the extended playing time. "It feels good. I'm happy. With such games I can get back into a rhythm," he commented.
Nicolas Jackson added a fourth goal for Bayern in the 79th minute, before Gladbach managed a late consolation strike.
