Cooper Connolly marked his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut with an unbeaten 72 off 49 balls, guiding Punjab Kings to a three-wicket win over Gujarat Titans.
The 22-year-old Australian, who had struggled in recent international matches, credited a mental reset for his resurgence. After a difficult patch with the bat, Connolly returned to form with five sixes and five fours in his innings.
"I had a couple of weeks at home, a refresh and reset," said Connolly, named player of the match. "That was probably the point where I changed."
His performance helped Punjab recover from a precarious position, following the loss of four wickets for eight runs. Key partnerships with Marco Jansen and Xavier Bartlett ensured the team remained competitive.
Punjab, currently fourth in the IPL standings, next face Chennai Super Kings on Friday.
