Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark exited Thursday night’s preseason game against the Dallas Wings after a collision, but appears to have avoided a serious injury.

Clark went down hard in the third quarter after taking a step-back three-point shot and landing on the foot of Wings defender Alanna Smith. Officials reviewed the play and issued Smith a Flagrant 1 foul for not giving Clark safe landing space.

Despite exiting with under eight minutes left in the third quarter, Clark finished with a team-high 21 points, hitting two of three three-pointers and 11 of 13 free throws, along with two rebounds, four assists, and one steal.

Fever head coach Stephanie White sat Clark for the remainder of the game as a precaution. The Fever have one more preseason game against the Nigerian national team before opening the regular season against the Wings on May 9.

Clark played only 13 games in her 2025 sophomore season after winning WNBA Rookie of the Year in 2024, making her health a key focus for the team.
