The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired veteran quarterback Andy Dalton from the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a seventh-round draft pick.
The 38-year-old spent the past three seasons in Carolina, primarily backing up Bryce Young. He started five games in 2024 after head coach Dave Canales benched Young early in the season, going 1-4 before Young reclaimed the role.
Dalton was Cincinnati’s starter for nine seasons, leading the Bengals to four straight playoff appearances from 2011 to 2014-though they never won a postseason game. After Joe Burrow’s arrival in 2020, Dalton cycled through Dallas, Chicago, and New Orleans before landing in Carolina.
In Philadelphia, Dalton will compete with Tanner McKee for the backup role behind Jalen Hurts. The move follows the Eagles’ disappointing 2025 campaign-they finished 11-6 but lost at home in the wild-card round-and the firing of offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. Sean Mannion, formerly of the Packers, has taken over play-calling duties.
