FIFA has announced a historic halftime show for the World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey this July.
The performance, curated by Coldplay's Chris Martin, will feature Madonna, Shakira, and boy band BTS. It marks the first time FIFA has staged a show during its flagship event.
This move mirrors the Super Bowl's halftime spectacle, aiming to capture similar global reach and advertising revenue. The 2026 World Cup is also notable for being co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and will feature an expanded 48-team tournament.
Shakira, no stranger to World Cup performances, has also teamed up with Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy for the official tournament song "Dai Dai." Royalties from the song will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.
