France has reclaimed the No. 1 spot in FIFA's world rankings, surpassing Spain for the first time since September 2018.

Impressive victories in recent friendlies against Brazil and Colombia propelled the French team up two positions. Spain dropped to second, while defending World Cup champion Argentina slipped to third.

England remained steady at fourth, and Portugal climbed to fifth. Spain had held the top position since September 2025 but was recently blanked by Egypt.

Brazil fell to sixth, followed by the Netherlands, Morocco, Belgium, and Germany in the top ten. Among this summer’s World Cup co-hosts, Mexico rose to 15th, pushing the U.S. to 16th. Canada sits at 30th.

Of the 48 teams set to compete in North America, 37 are ranked in the top 50. Only three of the top 30 will miss the tournament: Italy (12th), Denmark (20th), and Nigeria (26th).
