FIFA has announced the "Canada Celebrates" tour, a nationwide initiative featuring 38 stops in 34 cities from Halifax to Whitehorse, running from June 1 to July 19. This tour aims to bring World Cup energy to over 75% of Canadian residents, placing festivities within a two-hour drive.
Victor Montagliani, FIFA vice president, stated the tour will "wrap up, sort of in a big hug, the diversity and the breadth and width of our country." The event promises family-friendly games, food, and music, creating a festival atmosphere celebrating football and community.
Plans for this cross-country celebration were part of Canada's bid to host World Cup games over eight years ago and are intended to serve as a legacy for future host nations. The tournament kicks off June 11, with Canada playing its first game in Toronto on June 12. Toronto will host six games, and Vancouver will stage seven.
