SEVILLE - Hector Bellerin scored a dramatic stoppage-time equalizer, securing a 1-1 draw for Real Betis against Real Madrid on Friday. The result further diminishes Real Madrid's already slim chances of winning the LaLiga title with five games remaining.

Real Madrid now trail league leaders Barcelona by eight points, with Barcelona having a game in hand. Barcelona, on 82 points, could extend their lead to eleven points if they defeat Getafe on Saturday.

Real Madrid had taken the lead in the 17th minute. A powerful shot from Federico Valverde was parried by Betis goalkeeper Alvaro Valles, falling to Vinicius Jr. who expertly finished the rebound into the right post.

Despite creating further chances, including one from Jude Bellingham, Real Madrid failed to extend their lead. Betis grew into the match, with their goalkeeper Alvaro Valles making multiple saves to keep them in contention. Real's Kylian Mbappe also had a goal disallowed for offside.

Late in the game, Real Madrid was penalized for losing possession. Ferland Mendy's mistake inside the box led to Bellerin finding the net in the 93rd minute, leveling the score.

"Amidst all the legs, it went in," Bellerin told DAZN. "We deserved more than just a point. Not getting the win feels unfair."

This draw leaves Real Madrid needing a near-perfect finish to the season and significant help from other teams to prevent Barcelona from securing the title.
