England has recalled defender Harry Maguire for this month's friendly matches against Uruguay and Japan, with manager Thomas Tuchel naming a 35-man squad as preparations continue for the World Cup.

Maguire, who last played for England in 2024, was included due to his strong performances at Manchester United under Michael Carrick. His teammate Kobbie Mainoo was also called up.

Tuchel said the large squad would be split into two groups for the matches, allowing for new players to be evaluated. Everton's James Garner and Brighton's Jason Steele received their first England call-ups.

Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham was included despite a hamstring injury, while Trent Alexander-Arnold was left out. England will face Croatia, Ghana, and Panama in the World Cup group stage starting June 17 in Dallas.
